Think Diabetes Alert Day!
Diabetes is a serious disease that everyone should be concerned about.
That's why the American Diabetes Association (ADA) sponsors the American Diabetes Alert Day on the fourth Tuesday of every March.
During this time, everyone is encouraged to determine whether they're at risk.

You're at higher risk if :
* You are over 45
* You are overweight
* You do not exercise regularly
* You have a family history of diabetes
* You are a woman who has had a baby that weighed more than 9 pounds at birth

Some people may have obvious symptoms. Others may not.
Some of those symptoms include:
* Extreme thirst
* Blurry vision from time to time
* Unexplained weight loss
* Unusual tiredness or drowsiness
* Frequent or recurring skin, gum or bladder infections
* Tingling/numbness in the hands or feet

For more information, call the American Diabetes Association at 1-800-DIABETES (1-800-342-2383)
Or, visit them on the web at WWW.diabetes.org.

HAND A TEENAGER A CREDIT CARD ?
Only if you want to turn your 16-year-old into a debtor-in-training.

* If you're worried about safety, other kinds of plastic may ease your mind.
For example, you can load up VISA'S TRAVEL MONEY card with a cash value, which can be drawn down at ATMs that bear the Visa logo.
The card is protected by a personal identification number and can be replaced if used by a thief. And it can't be used at the checkout counter- a safeguard against impulse purchases (call 800-847-2399 for the nearest issuer).
With the Mondex smart card, being tested in New York City by MasterCard, parents can transfer money directly from their card to the child's.
